The Oregon SCTP State Sporting Clay Championship was held on June 4th in Florence, OR, with our hosts, Jerry and Diane Harpole of Siulsaw Sporting Clays. The weather was great and it was a very successful and fun event. We introduced our newest SCTP team, Central Oregon Sporting Clays Top Gun from Redmond. Their junior varsity squad, who competed for the first time in a state championship took 1st place in their division. Results are posted here.

Our first ever Oregon SCTP State Trap Championship was held on May 7. It was a very successful event at the Cottage Grove Eugene Sportsman's Club with over 35 athletes from 4th - 12th grade shooting trap.  Eddyville Eagles took over-all honors at that match.

SCTP is a team based program for athletes in elementary, middle and high school.  The main programs goal is to teach the safe and responsible handling and use of firearms, provide a supportive team-based environment and to introduce youths to a sport that can be enjoyed for a lifetime.  It offers participation in the American disciplines of trap, skeet and sporting clays and the Olympic disciplines of bunker trap, wobble trap and International Skeet.  An adult volunteer head coach leads each team.  Volunteer state advisors provide support for in-state activities and support their volunteer head coaches and assistant coaches.  SCTP's national website can be accessed at www.shootSCTP.org.  We are always looking for new teams and volunteers.
